Rafael A. Benitez is an immigration attorney who graduated from law school at Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico in 2019. He was born and raised in Puerto Rico until his family moved to the U.S. when he was twelve years old. Rafael spent his teenage years living in Upper Darby, PA, a diverse community of immigrants with at least 67 nationalities represented and 85 spoken languages. Growing up in Upper Darby, Rafael was able to expand his cultural knowledge and witnessed the needs and challenges that newly arrived immigrants must overcome when they move to the United States.
Rafael’s legal career began at age 17 when he started working as a paralegal for the immigration law firm Colon & Gonzalez LLC. At Colon & Gonzalez, Rafael learned the basics of immigration law, including how to listen and relate to the immigrant community and the importance of providing honest, diligent service. These skills have formed the foundation of his practice philosophy as an attorney. Rafael focuses his practice on immigration law, representing individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service and Immigration Court in removal defense, asylum, special immigrant juvenile, and adjustment of status proceedings. Rafael also assists businesses seeking employment visas.
Rafael is admitted to practice in Puerto Rico and is fluent in Spanish and English.
