Margaret M. Witherup, Esq.

Margaret “Maggie” Witherup, Esq. is a versatile attorney with more than 27 years’ experience, focusing on environmental & energy law, health care law, Maryland State regulatory law, and litigation. Before partnering with her husband Roberto Allen, Esq. to launch Witherup Allen Law in 2021, Maggie practiced law for 21 years at Gordon Feinblatt LLC. There, she rose through the ranks to become Chair of the Environmental and Energy Law Department and served on the Firm’s Executive Committee. Maggie advises clients in a variety of industries to remain compliant with the regulations that affect their businesses. This includes helping businesses, property owners, developers, and industrial clients solve environmental challenges. Maggie also guides developers of solar power and other renewable energy projects to obtain necessary licenses, permits and approvals. She also represents hospitals, practice groups and individual health care providers in licensing and regulatory issues.
Before going into private practice, Maggie worked for 5 years in the Maryland Attorney General’s Office in the Civil Litigation Division and as an Assistant Attorney General for the Maryland Port Administration. She served a law clerk to the Honorable Arrie W. Davis on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Maggie is the primary author and editor of Maryland Environmental Law, a LexisNexis Practice Guide (2017-2021).
